Okay bare with me on this one! I did a search and got nothing so here goes my question.

Pre-load is one of the huge advantages of a coil over. Why can't/don't people run a coil on their saw rear shocks with their leaf springs? Coils are linear and it couldn't be too hard to fig out what leaf pack to run with say a 300# coil also pushing down.

Am I crazy here? Seems like all it would take for anyone with a SAW in the rear is a pair of coils. I am a buggie guy but eveyone else I know has trucks and all I hear about is "you need coilovers" which always meant 4 link. I don't know....what do you all think?

The answer is you don't need both. Having both adds weight and makes dialing in your setup very difficult. Only one set of variables instead of two. Either stick with the torsion bars and choose from a few selections of bar thickness and length(Spring rate) or go coilover and have tons of selections not to mention dual-rate springs. If you have the money and or plan on over 13"+/- of travel go coilover. If not stick with the torsions. Good luck

Preload is used to set ride height...leafs can be sent out and reworked to adjust ride height...
