Guys,
I am buying a new welder my Lincoln 110 was ok but its time for a new one. For what I have to spend I have narrowed it down too 2, The Hobart 180 or the Miller 175. Which would you go with?

Thanks

They are both made by the same manufacturer... But not with the same quality of parts... Personally I would go with the Miller 175.

You can buy Hobarts at Harbor Freight. That would be a sign of the quality to me.

From a business stand point there is only one reason to have two product lines made by the same company. In other words the Hobarts are cheaper for a reason. The Miller you can almost guarantee has better parts in it or there would be NO reason to make it.

Other than the battery industry (small batteries like AA and D size) I can think of no company that has two brands of the same item unless one is much higher in quality. Just think of Lexus v. Toyota or Nissan v. Infinity. Go with the Miller 175

Quite fooling around and step up...HTP

2/3 the cost and 200% more welder than a Miller or Lincon.

I didn't know Hobart was a Harbor Freight deal. So thats a no go. I guess I will go with the Miller. I had a guy tell me to go Lincoln and that I didn't need a 220volt welder.

I just purchased the 175 and love it. For the money and I can't beleive the quality and service

One thing, the basic cart does not handle large gas tanks. I bought one and ended up using a shop cart that I modified. The cart from Miller now holds my Thermo Dynamics plasma cutter

Hobart is not a "Harbor Freight" deal. Harbor Freight just sells them. Hobart is made by Miller, just like GMC and Chevy. Just like shocks, pick the color you like and be happy. You can't go wrong with Red, Blue, or Grey. Just buy the most welder you can afford.
