I was wondering how many people with toyotas have power steering and does it make a difference to have it. I have a 93' 2wd (22re 5spd) steering and I have been thinking about adding it. Would it be worth it to use factory power steering and would it be difficult to add.
Thanks
Patrick

It is well worth it. I installed it on my old Toyota and couldn't believe the difference. If I remember correctly it was a pretty easy install too. There used to be a place in Orange called Holmes Mini Truck that had P/S units used for cheap.

I would agree with Dan....our old 12 truck used to be manual steering and the driver dislocated his shoulder one race (obviously not just from the manual steering but more from the required stock lower control arm and excessive bump-steer).....we installed P.S. and the truck was so much easier to control, even with excessive bump steer.
You can also call California Mini Trucks in Montclair @ (909) 622-1381...not sure on prices for complete system.....

Yes, I would install power steering. We started out racing w/out power steering and when we put it on, what a difference. We used a '94 4WD set up on our truck. We just had to drill a couple of holes in the frame and plated it for strength. It has worked out great for us.

Thanks everyone. Its sounds like something to do. Do you have an idea of about how much it would run. And I would imagine its a fairly easy install, just remove the old box and bolt a the new stuff up.
Thanks

ya, as long as its from a 89-94 model, the previous models are a little different. i just did this swap on my truck, but i used a box off an 85 because my neighbor gave me the whole set up for free. it took a little massage of the holes, but i managed to make it work fairly easy.
The most fun part was figuring out where the power steering pump went, that took me forever, lol
