Heard that its very hard to find bearings for this hub. Timken ran out and is gonna take a while to get production back. I know that Tim Scalzo runs them on his Aceco Truggy. Try Contacting him at shocksandsprings.com.

We used to have these hubs and I never got the full story on them but I remember we had one come apart during a race because we did not put the proper shims in to pre-load the bearings. Make sure you have the right shims and placement of them in the hub so they tighten down correctly. The fortin hubs we have now, dont use shims, much more simple than the summer bros.

I have some but they are sitting on my bedroom floor, never been on the car. Timken is on national back order, one of their main MFG plants is down for updating and has put them out of stock for a VEEEERY long time. Kartek is on backorder for 6 months and they are almost out of bearings. I told them about BCA bearing, part of Federal Mogul, another one of their companies is National seal. BCA is a very good and respectible company, that makes excellent bearings. We have recently switched over because of the problem with Timken.

If you don't mind, what is the part number for the bearings you have so I can use them as a reference, since my hubs are all together still. I will cross them over for you at work into a BCA number.

Well just by chance your in luck bud.
I run summers outboard hubs on my car. They are,,,uhh pretty easy to maintain, as I have not cracked mine open in 4 races. I think I have a spec sheet on the servicing of them, I will have to look in the shop later today. The main thing is to get them tight enough to find a lined up bend over locking tabs to lick the ring into place. You can get bearings from just about any bearing house. They are like $180 for the large and 120 for the small. I spend close to $500 on bearings, seals and races last time I seviced them. Main thing is to NOT get ANY water wahsed down into them when washing down the car. This WILL push water into the large bearing and make it rust.
Shoot me a PM with your contact info, fax or email and I will scan or fax what I have as far as spec sheets to you.
BTW these hubs were new in 1987! So that tells you how good they cam be.
