is there any way to soften up my leafs besides modifying the actual spring pack. Can i use the shackle placement to take some of the harshness out of the ride? or should i have my leafs re-tuned? its a 10-leaf pack on a tacoma w/ the shackle on top of the frame. thanks

i bet if you removed the shocks it would make for a "soft ride". got valve-able shocks??? if so, there you go. no need to remove the leaf's. just revalve your shocks. if not, oh well, definately call deaver. if anyone can, jeff can.

Is the ride harsh, or are the springs too stiff? There is a difference. For harsh it damperen tuning time. For stiff it's spring tuning time. You can effect the spring rate with shackle angle. Is that the right/correct thing to do? I don't know.

Most likely you need to pull those shocks out and play with some valving. Bypasses will allow you to do more fine tuning on leafs. Say the first couple inches is harsh or it's harsh over small stuff. Open up the first compression tube a little and that might solve it, etc.

Eric at Deaver is the MAN. He dialed-in our 62's that were too tall and too stiff. They ride great now. Here's an overview (http://http://www.trailslesstraveled.com/viewarticle.php?id=43)
