i have a 1/2 line at my t-stat housing , and have tried to get a temp switch, and light. (similar to a tach light, that when it reaches a temp it will stay on in your co-dogs face) I have tried every place here in phx for a temp switch, but they either activate at 210 F or 295 F........? At 210 it would be on all the time . But 265-295 F I think i would know by that time ....motor is toast.. I need a water temp. switch that can either be adjustable. or set set at 240- 250F.Any help in the phx area. steve802.

I get temp and pressure switches like that at Pegasus racing supplies, www.pegasusautoracing.com
I use temp switches for cooling fans and warning lights. I run the fuel pump with a pressure switch on the oil, so it doesnt pump fuel when the engine isn't running, like sideways in a ditch! I use a pushbutton switch on the dash to pump fuel before starting.

If you can find it, the switch used by GM on the Vega's has a start mode by-pass. Three terminals, power in, to pump, start by-pass which turns on the pump as long as you are cranking. Jumper to it from the crank wire on the starter solenoid. Used to be they hung on the walls of most parts houses.
VDO sells temp switches in a large range of temps. In the past I've looked up the p/n on their page and ordered it from Summit.

Thanks ntsqd. That switch has driven may vega owners crazy when the engine was low on oil and wouldn't start!

Too bad, we'd have gotten rid of them things faster otherwise. ;)
