Have an 1987 Ford Ranger 4x4 with a 5-speed tranny. The gear shift lever assembly broke (common problem according to auto recyclers in the area). The piece that broke is a small plastic ball and socket type joint just inside the assembly cover. I tried a few auto recyclers in the area (Nor Cal / Sacramento area) and no one had one or knew who would. I found one at Summit made by Hurst, but its $200 (little pricey). Anyone know where to find a replacement and an approximate cost? Or what I should expect to pay at a recycler? Thanks.

i replaced the one in my ranger, went to the stealership and bought it. i cannot remember what it cost, but i do not think it was much for the broken pieces

not a ranger, but I have one of the Hurst 5spd shifters on my Dakota, and I LOVE it!

it was worth every penny

I have a 5 speed tranny sitting in my garage I'm not going to use. PM me your info and I'll send it to you.
