I took these pictures of my buddies Ranger out in Glamis during the Thanksgiving weekend. The shock mount held fine and withstood lots and lots of abuse. By Sunday morning the cab weld job was cracked. Go figure. Reading the KISS thread made me wonder if there isn't some law of diminishing returns when it comes to fabrication.

I can't see why the cab weld would break. Your friend obviously knows what he is doing. That is some beautiful work there. Think he would build me a trophy truck? http://www.race-dezert.com/vb3/attachments/old/images/graemlins/crazy.gif http://www.race-dezert.com/vb3/attachments/old/images/graemlins/crazy.gif http://www.race-dezert.com/vb3/attachments/old/images/graemlins/crazy.gif http://www.race-dezert.com/vb3/attachments/old/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

You got it Kritro... but you spelled the last name wrong. That thing was an animal out in the dunes... bald [I have been warned] 31" tires out back and like new 32" tires up front. He did a 4.56 gear swap just before we left and it worked surprisingly well. What it lacks in beauty it more than makes up for in performance. The front coil spring only came unseated four times in one evening. Other than that it was pretty unstoppable.

I miss the good old days. Thanks for the trip back. Nothing like hearing a giant CRACK! radiating through the cab when you hit a hole. I don't know how many times we used to get out of a truck and try to see what broke next. You can cover up those welds with some JBweld to make them look perfect!

HOLY [I have been warned] SETH!!!
Must have been a bad case of Coor's or something, although It's hard to imagine that you drink more beer now than you did in college. When you get a free moment, please take a look at the "Beer Drinking in Fab Shops" thread in the Desert Racing forum.

In his defense this was done in a MAJOR rush on Thursday, Thanksgiving day. They left about 1:am and rolled into Glamis around 5:am Friday morning. And the beauty of the whole thing is it held up throughout the weekend. But it sure as hell ain't purty.

I've finally seen someone who welds worse than I do.
