OK,

I've pretty much had it with my current tranny builder. He's a nice guy and he's been REALLY kind to us on the prices, but I need a C6 that will last for more than 45-60 minutes. I heard Dave at Trans Pros has moved to MO, I tried the only #s I could find for Steve Culhane and Brian at Transwerks with no luck. I also searched and found the same numbers and names.

Can someone out there please give me some contact info for some serious off-road tranny guys? Thanks in advance.

Mogi builds some stout C4's. Falzone has ran his C4 for over 5 years w/o rebuilds.. Considering the miles/abuse he puts on them, thats pretty damn good. Im sure Mogi could build a mean c6 as well.. They are out of Riverside.

THe james gang ran a Mogi built C6 in there 8 truck, so im sure it was a damn good tranny.

I used Dave and never had an issue, but he's out of here now.

I just dropped my preunner c6 off at Mogi today for some work. I have never heard anything bad about him. He does charge for his expertise though.

LOL, i still love the C-4 trans, and for anyone that has less than 500hp i don't think i'd consider anything else. in my case, 600 hp and 500 ft/lbs of torque on wisconsin's clay and i could litterally snap the input shaft on demand. i tried them all, vasco and 300m. after switching to a c-6 i always hated that trans. ATD built me one that would last, in fact i ran 7 races on that trans when my other builder couldn't make one last 10 minutes. but it just plain sucked the HP away from the engine. last season i went turbo 400, i wish i could have stayed with a ford trans, but that 400 works good and never let me down.

the adapter plate is bitter/sweet, good because it works well to mount the back of the engine, bad because you have to pull the trans to get the engine out. in our case this could be the difference between swaping an engine in time or missing a race.

I think he is, too. We killed the first one after only about an hour or so. He told me he couldn't find anything wrong, so we must've ran it low on fluid. That's when I knew I had to find someone else. The 2nd one dying in 40 minutes after a 7.5 hour tow was kind of the exclamation point.

I talked a long time ago to someone who also recommended the TH400, so maybe that's what I'll do. Thanks for all the help guys.

Billy,

What are you running for a cooler(s)? I know that the CORR trucks seem to require a large cooler or two. Granted they most likely have a higher stall converter than your 7 truck. Another thing to remember is that the converter has to be looser for an engine with less torque (V6 vs. V-8), wo you might possibly be running a converter that generates a large amount of heat, thus requiring more in the way of a cooling system.

[/ QUOTE ] Setrab 920 (The big one w/ fan pack) It never got over 210, even after it quit working.

[/ QUOTE ] I honestly don't think lack of torque is the problem! It makes over 270 ft/lbs at 2500 rpm, and over 400 ft/lbs for nearly 2,000 rpm. We have a stock convertor now, but we are going to loosen it up some so it'll jump off the line a little better which would definitely add more heat.

my truck has 4 trans coolers but i think i only need 3. now that i have a trans that works i can keep my fluid temps in the 170 to 180 range.

what's been breaking in your c-6. i was blowing 2nd gear out of mine. one trans only shifted into 2nd gear good one time! i won a race on that one, hit 2nd gear on the launch and never used it again! got out front and just stayed there, lol!

the converter is everything, if you don't have big dollars tyed up in c-6 converters that makes it an even better time to switch! no sense spending 900 bucks on a c-6 conv then switch to a 400 in a couple months.
