If we had a choice for maximum power for a race 2110cc VW motor what single carburetor would you use and if two were allowed what two would you use?

weber 44 idf, w/spring loaded needle valve. either single or dual, have run both on my cars and no problems except leaving 76 race gas in them for a long time, tends to plug up the idle jets. swicthed to 112 vp, no problems at all!!

I can 2nd the 44idf. Have one on my buggy, and it is more reliable than anything else on the car. Fat performance puts these on their 2110's. They did a buildup in an old HotVW's motor guide.

Hey Al, Kevin from Vorra here.
We just got back from the baja 1k and I looked at alot of cars during the down time at tech.
Nearly every car I looked at had a 44webber on it (where legal). I looked very closely at the baja challenge cars, 44 idf. 12 cars 44 idf, cars running duals= agian 44 idf's. Only a couple rigs used 48's. Guys running 44's say they are easier to tune that any other carb. Only other advantage would be to go to EFI. I even saw one V8 4 seat prerunner using tripple 44 idf's. Another was using tripple 48's! Gordons Dad's car.
I also know of a car running dry sumped dual 44 idf's. The car runs great, no bobbles, lots o power. So much infact that it breaks trannys , its a 3 ltr T4!. We will be dry sumping our 44 idf's on our 1499 car. Either that or CB EFI! # 29 car runs EFI and so does Sam's Prerunner baja. Slick set up.
