Do any GPS units provide a video out function, so that you can have an additional LCD screen.? Or , is there some other way to show the GPS information on a seperate screen?

Ive been asking the same question too. It seems the only way to get a larger screen, is to spend the extra $ to get the larger units (which usually come with useless extras like fishfinders).

What about a navigation based system like those for cars, you can run a larger screen if you like, and the screens are usually pretty cheep as well, except the systems cost as much as the large GPS anyways.

You can buy a GPS receiver for a lap-top and the software to go with it. I suppose if you got a lap-top with video out port/connector that then you could connect whatever sceen size you wanted to that port.

As someone that's mounted a PC inside his truck at different times, it'd be.... interesting ... to see how well it held up over a rough race course... by the time you bought a couple of small VGA monitors (the small NTSC TV monitors don't work so hot w/ the output from a PC), and figured out where to mount a mouse or trackball to control it, you'd probably wish you'd have just bought a second standalone GPS unit.

that is what i was going to say..

They make nice touch screen displays now so you wouldnt need a mouse or a trackball.

check out MP3car.com (http://www.mp3car.com/) they have tons of helpfull ideas and links to get good deals on the parts you would need.
