I used the gasket and a thin silicon sealer as I was told it keeps the axles lined and avouds binding. If I remember correctly 2 plus quarts, but I just filled until it was level with the fill hole. I'm running Redline syn and love it.

1. 2.5q's
2. Gasket with silicone on both sides. Ive run into problems with silicone (no matter what type) being pushed out over time and leaking. With a gasket you dont have to worry about axles not lining up if its even that big of a deal. Permatex makes a great product its called "The Right Stuff" its a gasket maker and works excellent on diff covers although I have never tried sealing 3rd memebers with it.
3.Locker? Spool? Open...one tire fire? Depends on what your carrier is.

I would run 85-140w NON synthetic. Ive always liked Valvoline but brands up to you. Swepco's another good choice.

It seems that those of us with Detroit lockers are taking less fluid to fill the dif.

"The Right Stuff" works great as a gasket maker on the 9". I've used it numerous times with mine. Like others said, 2.5 qts. (and I run a Detroit in my Bronco too).

check out www.broncograveyard.com (http://www.broncograveyard.com) there prices seem reasonable and they carry everything for early broncos.

EB axle lengths are known, just not by me. Given it's a '68 you have a small bearing housing unless the ends have been changed. Wilwood (amoung others) has a chart that can help you ID which bearing housing you have. Look user "toddZ" and ask him. I'm pretty sure he'll know that.

thanks guys
it has the small bearings im 99% sure about that caus eits stock. Only hing about replacing it with stock bronco parts is my trucks not a full size ford and i dont want to use the 5 x 5.5 lug pattern. I need the axels bronco lenght with 5 x 4.75 lug pattern. ill keep looking around and if all else fails currie will do it.

gregg, you can have to axles changes to match whatever lug pattern you need. i had mine changed to 6 lug to match my front end.

skip the gasket on anything with any significant HP. my CORR truck will spit the gasket out in 30 minutes. real pain.
my truck takes 5 QTs dry and 4 if the hubs are wet. just make sure you fill to the hole and don't make assumptions.
if jeff's bronco doesn't have what you need get the guys at DTS to set you up. www.drivetrainspecialists.com (http://www.drivetrainspecialists.com) tell them i sent you.
