650 would be easy, 800 is possible but approaching the durability limit. So a short race engine may have something in the range of 800, but a B1k engine will have less so that it will live long enough.

The Skat V4 engines are awesome...a 350V8 cut in half...they scream! Not sure on HP numbers.

we had a old sprint car motor with a turbo on it which was a 350 cut in half but down the center. it was the fastest buggy I had ever seen. Just awesome to watch. i beleive markings had a skat motor in his??
But 650-800 horepower thats huge why is there the need for that amount of HP?
We have just bought a cosworth turbo powered Jimco and it is said to have 600bhp but as soon as we get hold of it then I am sure we will turn it down a fair bit.

Split down the middle makes it an inline 4, SCAT's are V-4's.

Weight. Power to kick out the rear at will. Shear fun and giggles.

That's a lot from a BDA, assuming that it is and not a YB.

i know the new 5.7 350 LS6 engine has 405 stock hp, but a race engine has to be around 450-600 hp.

As a famous racer said on another thread here (and thousands before him elsewhere), "It's the torque...."

Just to clarify a few things OBR184 has said. The sprintcar motor that was in their old car was a 4cyl rodeck, which are a chev smallblock split down the middle.
And the Cosworth motor is from a Sierra Cosworth touring car, two litres and with a BIG turbo. I have seen this car go and their is no doubt that it has the power, quite awsome!

Cosworth Sierra would be the YB then. Can easily believe those kind of numbers from one.
